“Our world is not divided by race, color, gender, or religion. Our world is divided into wise people and fools. And fools divide themselves by race, color, gender, or religion”. ~ Mohamad Safa

Mohamad Safa (@mhdksafa) is a Lebanese green entrepreneur and a 2019 Young Champion of the Earth for the West Asia region. He is the Executive Director of the Patriotic Vision Organization and a Permanent Representative at the United Nations. Safa’s work focuses on integrated waste management, plastic pollution, and youth empowerment. He collaborates with schools, universities, and communities to promote sustainable development and environmental protection, aiming to transform waste into wealth and reduce plastic waste in oceans.

Patriotic Vision desires that every youth has an opportunity to live a full life. It aims at contributing to the United Nations goals of Youth 2030 which is to contribute to communities. It also seeks to empower youth to be agents of change.

“Our environment is threatened by plastic pollution and climate change. We all have a role to play to protect our only home and today it mainly depends on youth. We need youth use less plastic, increasing green areas, care about wildlife, care about oceans and embrace waste to wealth. We believe that integrated waste management is crucial and work with schools, universities and communities to sort waste and deliver the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. We believe working with a new generation can beat plastic pollution and the 8 million tons of plastic that end up in our oceans each year. Patriotic Vision is an non-government organization with special consultative status at the United Nations, seeking to promote social civilization, and raise the well-being of the individuals and societies, working on peace building and saving human rights.”

Special consultative status at the United Nations is a designation given to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that allows them to participate in the work of the UN. This status provides NGOs with the opportunity to attend international conferences and events, make written and oral statements at UN meetings, and collaborate with UN bodies and agencies on various issues. It enhances the NGO’s ability to contribute to global discussions and influence policy-making at the international level.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mohamad Safa successfully guided Patriotic Vision through a transformation period, helping reshape the organization into one focused on gender equality and reducing administrative costs. He also increased Patriotic Vision’s funding by over 250% within a 3-year timespan.

He is passionate about human rights advocacy, as evident from his Twitter bio “#StandUp4HumanRights”.
